We are all numbers people at TP ICAP, and we know that numeracy is crucial for the success of our industry.  We also know the power numbers have to drive social mobility by providing people with the skills and confidence they need to raise and realise their ambitions. 

As a multinational company, we are committed to supporting programmes which aim to increase opportunity and improve productivity. Promoting inclusive economic growth is one of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and we know numeracy can play an important role in widening economic participation.

Today, half the UK adult population only has the skills expected of an 11-year-old, which adversely affects their life chances – impacting how much they earn, how they manage their money, and even their health.  Through our partnership with National Numeracy, we want to address this and change lives for the better.

To mark the day, National Numeracy is hosting several free online events, videos and resources, including appearances from real-life learners and celebrities including Rachel Riley, Martin Lewis and Bobby Seagull. TP ICAP is proud to be taking part in a range of exciting activities, including:

• Participating in a virtual event, ‘Work it! How to use numbers to supercharge your job search and career’ which involves celebrities, experts and workers talking about how boosting numeracy can boost career prospects. Our very own ICAP broke Danielle Orme will be featured on this panel. You can watch it here.

• Releasing a collection of inspiring social media videos featuring real life stories from Numeracy Day Homegrown Numbers Heroes across TP ICAP, talking about how they feel about numbers, how they have improved and what advise they'd give tp people who are less confident with numbers.

• Encouraging people to join the 300,000 others who have already started improving their numeracy with the free online tool, the National Numeracy Challenge.
