Board skills and experience

Paul brings to the Board over 40 years of experience in capital markets, wholesale broking, and commodity derivatives, with a deep understanding of the wholesale market intermediary business and the products, platforms, and client relationships at the heart of TP ICAP. He has first-hand experience of the operational and strategic evolution of the broking industry, having been a pivotal figure in the development of over-the-counter energy derivatives and the build-out of a leading global commodities broking franchise. As EMEA Workforce Engagement Director, his experience ensures that he understands and represents the views of employees in the EMEA region in Board discussions.

Career

Paul spent more than 25 years at ICAP plc, where he founded the firm’s commodities arm in 1990 and served as Executive Managing Director, before being appointed Chair of ICAP Energy from 2014 to 2016 and Chair of ICAP Shipping from 2008 to 2014. Following the sale of ICAP’s voice broking businesses to Tullett Prebon in 2016, Paul served as a director at NEX Group until 2018, when the business was acquired by CME Group. Earlier in his career he was Chief Executive of Elders Securities UK and Executive Director, Capital Markets and Trading at Elders Finance UK, having previously held trading and product development roles at Astley & Pearce and Exco Futures.
